Mexico City Official Name Requires Modification to Forms in Logistics Blog

Effective February 1, 2017, Mexico's capital name will officially be Mexico City or Ciudad de Mexico (CDMX).

The official rebranding takes place as part of a reform to move power away from federalgovernment and allowing Mexico City to become a state in its own right.

How does this affect you?

According to the Miscellaneous Fiscal Resolution for 2017 published on December 23, 2016, all operating documents (invoices, labels, certificates, permits), where an address is reflected, must appear as Mexico City. The previous Mexico D.F. will cease to be a legal existing entity.

Note: any documents issued before February 1, 2017 will be valid to carry out the corresponding foreign trade operations.
